What is Kappa Kappa Psi?
We are an honorary band fraternity. Our brothers are chosen from the UCLA Bruin Marching band. We primarily serve our band and the UCLA community. We also form close relations of brotherhood and sisterhood within our organization and the Epsilon Kappa Chapter of the band sorority.
How are you different from other fraternities?
We aren’t a social fraternity, we’re focused on service. That means we don’t party or drink as a Chapter. We also don’t use terms with derogatory connotations, like frat or pledges, and we never haze our members. But probably the biggest difference between us and other fraternities is that we’re just a big group of band geeks.
Can anyone join?
Our Fraternity is co-ed (open to both men and women), but only members of the UCLA Bruin Marching Band can join.
Why join?
Every brother gets something different from their experience in Chapter. Common reasons for joining have been wanting to give back and serve the band, pursuing leadership opportunities, and joining a close group of brothers and friends. But the best way to find out why we’ve joined is to ask a brother!
How can I join?
As an honorary fraternity, membership is not open to everyone. You must be invited by the Fraternity to join, but everyone in the band is encouraged to apply and interview with us. If we feel you’re suited for our organization, we will offer you membership.

What would I do to become a brother?
Prospective members must complete our candidate process to become active. You will be interviewing active brothers and sisters from the band sorority to become acquainted with our organizations. Lessons will teach you Fraternity history, UCLA band history, the values and goals of the Fraternity, and more. Your candidate class will also plan and execute several events, to simulate what it’s like being active.
What would I do as a brother?
Brothers’ commitments include attending weekly meetings and participating in service projects, fundraisers, and social events. Brothers may choose to take on additional responsibilities by running for office. Your level of involvement is up to you, and you get out of the experience what you put into it.
Since both are co-ed, what’s the difference between the band fraternity and sorority?
The sorority focuses on women in band and their purposes have some differences. Whichever organization you join, you’ll get to serve the band and accept leadership opportunities. The best way to figure out which organization you’re best suited to is to talk to brothers and sisters and see which group you fit with.
