Senior Spotlights

It is once again that time of year when the fraternity must bid farewell to its graduating seniors. To spin it a bit more positively, however, we can think of it as the time of year that the alumni have the chance to welcome new members into their ranks. With that in mind, here’s a quick introduction of some of our newest alumni:

Mark Cunningham (BP)
Section: Trombone
Major(s): Statistics
Minor(s): Accounting
Fun Fact: Mark may have been a trombone player, but also spent 2 years as a drum major.
Future Plans: Mark is moving to Boston to begin his career with the accounting firm PWC.


April Johnson (BP)
Section: Color Guard, Alto Sax
Major(s): Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics
Minor(s): N/A
Fun Fact: April danced on a UCLA cultural team.
Future Plans: April is staying until fall to finish a lab and apply for PT School. Ultimately, April plans to become a Doctor of Physical Therapy.


Nishi Intwala (BT)
Section: Alto Sax
Major(s): Physics
Minor(s): Mathematics
Fun Fact: Nishi’s go-to napping spot on campus was the bench in front of the third-floor elevator of the Physics and Astronomy Building.
Future Plans: Nishi is currently working at the Plasma Physics Research Lab. She plans to apply to graduate school for either physics or electrical engineering. Ultimately, she would like to do something physics-y that also has practical applications or helps us understand more about our universe.


Justin Hang (BP)
Section: Trombone
Major(s): International Development Studies
Minor(s): Accounting with an emphasis on Economics
Fun Fact: Justin worked at Anderson, did a couple case competitions, and was part of VITA for a year.
Future Plans: Justin plans to become a licensed CPA. His long term goal is to be able to apply his major (international development studies) to his accounting background. His ultimate goal is to be able to travel without being financially stressed.


Bailee Murphy (BP)
: Alto Sax
Major(s): Ecology, Behavior, and Evolution
Minor(s): N/A
Fun Fact: Bailee did field research on squirrels by feeding them peanut butter.
Future Plans: Bailee hopes to get a small starter job and eventually work for the national park service.


Nick DiNiro (BP)
Section: Horn
Major(s): American Literature and Culture
Minor(s): N/A
Fun Fact: Nick was a Psifonian for all 4 years, as he joined both KKPsi and PMA his freshman year. He’s also an avid tennis player so hit him up if you need a hitting buddy.
Future Plans: In the short term Nick wants to do some traveling and might end up in Spain or somewhere in South America teaching English. Long term he’ll probably apply to grad school and maybe become a high school English teacher.


Justin Klotzle (BY)
Section: Trumpet
Major(s): Music Education
Minor(s): N/A
Fun Fact: Justin is one of the three Justins that joined this year in the Beta Upsilon class.
Future Plans: Justin will be working as the Instrumental Band Director at Burbank High School. He plans to work on a Masters/Doctorate in the coming years.


Austin Sugai (BΣ)
Section: Color Guard
Major(s): Psychology
Minor(s): Music History
Fun Fact: Austin has never had an omelette from any of the dining halls.
Future Plans: Austin plans to continue spinning things and telling kids to point their feet. Additionally he plans to go to grad school for Industrial-Organizational Psychology and get a job in that field.


Annie Cheng (BP)
Section: Flute
Major(s): Psychology
Minor(s): Environmental Systems & Society, Education Studies
Fun Fact: Annie worked at the Covel Dining Hall for three years. She continues to intern at the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium.
Future Plans: Annie is currently looking for a job that will allow her to take part in running an environment-focused science education center and getting young people involved in volunteering. She also may eventually apply to graduate school or law school.


Jeremy Rotman (BΣ)
Section: Trombone
Major(s): Computer Science
Minor(s): N/A
Fun Fact: Jeremy shot with UCLA Club Archery for 4 years, though he did not win very much. He at least holds the achievement of being a part of the gold medal Men’s Recurve Team at West Regionals, which probably means very little to you readers.
Future Plans: Though Jeremy is graduating, he will be coming right back to UCLA in the fall to begin his PhD in Computer Science with a focus on Computational Systems Biology. 


Julia Karstens (BP)
Major(s): Music History
Minor(s): Music Industry
Julia joined the Psi Chapter during her first year at UCLA. She was the Psi Chapter’s historian for two years before serving as Chapter President this year. 


Wyatt Watkins (BΣ)
Section: Quads
Major(s): Computer Science
Minor(s): N/A
Wyatt joined the Psi Chapter as a second year. He was the Psi Chapter’s Alumni Relations Officer last year and served on the Alumni Relations Committee this year.
