During the late summer weeks of August, members of the Psi chapter volunteered with Long Peach Polytechnic High School’s Marching Band for their summer band camp. Brothers interacted closely with students to help them learn basic marching fundamentals and then apply those skills to their field show, entitled “Taking Flight”. Brothers helped lead sectionals and give musical direction to their stand tunes as well as give tips on sight reading music for newer members of the group. Student leaders of the Poly Marching Band worked with members of Psi to enhance their own leadership and teaching skills during sectionals and on the field. After a week of marching and music workshops, the LBP Marching Band was able to perform the first part of their show and their full pregame for their first home football game. By the end of their band camp, the LBP marching band had included their second number of their show complete with visuals and full ensemble. It was a fun experience for all participants and the LBP band members really appreciated the help from the brothers of Psi.
