Band Camp for the 2016 marching season began on Sunday, September 11 for guard and drumline. To kick off the week, Psi and EK threw a pizza party for the whole band! New members were quickly introduced to the returners while enjoying music and refreshments. Many of the section leaders took charge in ensuring that everyone felt welcome by starting icebreaker games for the new band members. On Tuesday, medicine band members walked to the highly acclaimed Diddy Riese for some delicious ice cream and cookie sandwiches and lots of bonding. The turnout was one of the highest we have ever seen!
The second week of band camp, band members went to the ice cream social for delicious treats and icebreaker games! The new members especially enjoyed meeting people outside their own section. The highlight of the night was one of the freshman trumpets showing off his unique talent of wrapping his legs behind the back of his head! At the end of the second week, the new members learned UCLA’s Alma Mater, “Hail to the Hills of Westwood.” Gordon complimented the Director of Bands Activities, saying it was the best he had ever heard Hail!
