Band Alumni Reunion 2016

On October 22nd, at the Bruins’ homecoming game against Utah, 280 alumni members of the UCLA Bruin Marching Band took the field at halftime for Band Alumni Reunion. Joining forces with current members of the band, the band alumni performed music from Disney’s Aladdin.

Preparation for Band Alumni Reunion began long before the 2016 Football and Marching Band season started. Over the summer and during the first few weeks of the fall quarter, in addition to postcards and emails sent by the band, active members of Psi and EK reached out to all the band alumni they knew to invite them to Band Alumni Reunion, in hopes of having the biggest Band Alumni Reunion ever. Registration started out slow, but in the weeks leading up to the reunion, we quickly ran out of instruments to loan out to attendees!

The check-in lines stretched from the tables to the other side of our rehearsal field and then some, a sight both exhilarating and daunting for the check-in crew. At halftime, the combined bands spanned from one 20-yard line to the other.

Former drum major and Psi alumnus Adam Fletcher, wearing a replica of the band’s 1928 uniform, leads the band onto the field at halftime.

It was great seeing everyone at Band Alumni Reunion! More pictures are available on the UCLA Bruin Marching Band’s Facebook page.
