Biography
I love laughing, debating, dancing, singing, playing trombone, smiling, and puns (see Calvin Pham for a good pun). My favorite color is green. I love reading, especially historical fiction, favorites: “The Grapes of Wrath” by John Steinbeck and “One Hundred Years of Solitude” by Gabriel García Márquez. My favorite movies are “The Shawshank Redemption” and “Bring it On!”
Ask me why I dance for Dance Marathon.
I’m an environmental science major, which is one of the sweetest majors at UCLA, plus it’s really new! I want to study water, especially how we’re screwing it up and how we can fix it! I work in a lab studying biogenic silica aka DIATOMS and other such cute microscopic creatures. Dolphins get all the love, I don’t see why. Diatoms make their own glass homes from microscopic pieces of glass in the ocean and they have cute little feelers! Water quality is my second passion after music. They flow together nicely (pun!!).
My Psi family is absolutely wonderful. I met my big big big big brother, Jake Ballon, recently in Westwood for Red Mango. Then of course there is Art Kerdmanee, one of the most amazing people in the world. Michelle Kunihiro my big brother! Who always has words of encouragement for me and keeps me smiling. And then there’s my little brother, Mr. Michael Bright who is not only twice my height (almost) but twice the smiles and love.
I love the trombone section, as much as people complain we’re too loud and obnoxious, they were my first UCLA home. BOOT BOOT BOOT! stop.
I want to change the world, I just haven’t figured out how yet.
