Biography

Hi all! My name is Mike, but I like to go by Miche (pronounced Meesh), because I get tired of turning around every time someone I don’t know is calling for some other Mike. And also because I’m obsessed with France and the French (I’m pretty lousy at speaking it though.)

My Grandfather inspired me to pursue Chemistry as a major, and more specifically my concern for the environment led me to choose Chemical Engineering with Environmental Option (hence I haven’t been able to take French in college). My grandfather also inspired my interest in music, and I couldn’t thank him more. I still play piano, but mainly just for my own enjoyment. It’s the best stress-reliever out there.

I love traveling all over the world and experiencing new cultures, and the food that goes with it. I love trying new food, and you’ll be stumped to find a type of food that I won’t enjoy eating (Preserved Egg and Balut are 2 of the few).

I love commercials, especially really random ones. I also love board games of any and all kind, though Catchphrase seems to be the party favorite. Chess is also a great game, and I love to be challenged (Let me Know!). I have a great sense of direction, and enjoy finding my way out of unknown territory. I also have an obsession with capitalizing words that shouldn’t be.

My Big bro is Bethany Porter, and she’s awesome! (Though she doesn’t share my interest in eclectic foods) I love spending time with her, even though I will sarcastically pretend that I would want nothing to do with her. She’s amazing, and always keeps me stocked with my favorite candy, Sour Patch Kids.

KKPsi grows more important everyday. I love getting involved with band at the next level. The friendships of many people in the Psi chapter mean so much to me and I can only hope these bonds grow. I look forward to sharing them with incoming candidates next year as well as to brothers in other chapters.
