What We Do and Where
The members of the Psi chapter are active not only in the band, but in the UCLA community as well as the Los Angeles community at large. Our members are drum majors, section and squad leaders, equipment crewmembers, and have a presence in many other leadership positions in the band. On top of this presence as paid band workers, we complete many service projects for the band in general, including giving the whole band water during long band camp days and building new shelves to hold instruments in Pauley Pavilion for the basketball season.
The Psi chapter has a large presence in the UCLA music department outside of marching band. We conduct regular receptions for most concerts taking place in Schoenburg music hall, and recently we have begun refreshing those practicing in practice rooms late at night by giving away free water and snacks.
Finally, the Psi chapter has shown its versatility in the numerous service projects we have completed in the community around UCLA. In the past, we have held informational musical demonstrations at local elementary schools. At these, we play as a group and then show young students the vast range of instruments that can have the ability to play in the future, encouraging them to make music a part of their lives. We have also played on the Ferris wheel of the Santa Monica pier for the Make a Wish Foundation, a great experience for both our fraternity and the foundation.
The Psi chapter has a a great presence in all aspects of UCLA life, helping out in many ways to make UCLA a great place to play music at as well as encouraging music in the community around us.
